Principal Responsibilities

  1. Thailand Market Development
  • Develop and execute STIDE’s institutional-sales and market-entry plan for Thailand.
  • Identify priority sectors, corporate segments, professional networks and transaction channels.
  • Build a qualified pipeline of mid-market companies, project owners, sponsors and family-owned enterprises with credible financing requirements.
  • Develop relationships with Thai and regional banks, non-bank financial institutions, private-credit funds, family offices and other institutional capital providers.
  • Establish referral and collaboration relationships with law firms, accounting firms, corporate-finance advisers, consultants, technical advisers and other professional service providers.
  • Represent STIDE at selected industry events, professional forums, conferences and private meetings.
  • Provide management with market intelligence on financing demand, lender appetite, transaction structures, competing advisers and emerging commercial opportunities in Thailand.
  1. Advisory-Mandate Origination
  • Originate advisory opportunities involving private credit, structured finance, project finance, acquisition finance, asset-backed lending and other financing requirements within STIDE’s scope.
  • Conduct initial discussions with prospective clients to understand their business, financing objectives, transaction timetable and decision-making process.
  • Explain STIDE’s services, engagement model and limitations accurately.
  • Convert suitable prospects into structured commercial discussions and paid advisory mandates.
  • Prepare or coordinate pitch materials, proposals, engagement scopes and commercial terms.
  • Lead discussions relating to advisory fees, deliverables, responsibilities, timelines and acceptance criteria.
  • Secure properly authorised engagement letters before substantive advisory work begins.
  • Follow through on the collection of agreed retainers, deposits or other advisory fees in accordance with STIDE’s commercial policies.
  1. Transaction Qualification

For each prospective opportunity, the Institutional Sales Manager will be expected to establish:

  • The borrower, sponsor, project owner and ultimate decision-makers.
  • The purpose and amount of financing required.
  • The proposed use of proceeds.
  • The preferred instrument, currency, tenor and repayment profile.
  • The primary and secondary repayment sources.
  • The availability and quality of historical financial information.
  • The borrower’s financial performance, leverage and liquidity position.
  • The status of relevant licences, permits, contracts and approvals.
  • Available collateral, security, guarantees or contractual cash flows.
  • Sponsor commitment and proposed equity contribution.
  • Existing indebtedness, lender relationships and encumbrances.
  • The credibility of the proposed timetable.
  • Material legal, regulatory, tax, foreign-exchange or execution risks.
  • Whether the transaction falls within STIDE’s professional, commercial and compliance parameters.

The manager must apply disciplined go/no-go criteria and reject weak, misleading, underprepared or commercially unrealistic opportunities rather than filling the pipeline with decorative nonsense.

  1. Commercial Process Management
  • Maintain control of each prospect from initial contact through qualification, proposal, negotiation and mandate execution.
  • Establish clear next steps, deadlines and responsibilities after each material discussion.
  • Coordinate internal reviews before making commitments relating to scope, timing or deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity stages, expected values, probability assessments and closing dates.
  • Produce reliable weekly and monthly pipeline reports.
  • Identify stalled opportunities and take decisive action to advance, restructure or close them.
  • Avoid carrying inactive or unqualified prospects indefinitely.
  • Coordinate the transition of signed mandates to STIDE’s structuring, research and execution teams.
  • Remain commercially engaged after handover to preserve client alignment and identify legitimate follow-on opportunities.
  1. Institutional Relationship Management
  • Develop long-term relationships with senior executives, shareholders, chief financial officers, treasury teams, project sponsors and investment professionals.
  • Maintain professional relationships with institutional capital providers without implying that STIDE controls their credit decisions.
  • Understand the mandate, risk appetite and transaction preferences of relevant counterparties.
  • Manage sensitive discussions involving financing constraints, transaction weaknesses and stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain credibility by communicating accurately, documenting commitments and refusing to overstate transaction prospects.
  • Protect STIDE’s reputation by prioritising relationship quality over indiscriminate contact volume.
  1. Internal Coordination
  • Work closely with STIDE’s management, structuring, financial-analysis, research, legal-coordination and execution personnel.
  • Ensure that proposed scopes are technically deliverable and commercially viable.
  • Provide complete and accurate handover information for each signed engagement.
  • Participate in internal opportunity reviews and transaction-screening meetings.
  • Communicate market feedback that may affect STIDE’s products, pricing, sector priorities and service model.
  • Support the preparation of Thailand-specific institutional content, case studies, market notes and client materials.
  1. Compliance and Professional Conduct

The Institutional Sales Manager must:

  • Represent STIDE’s services, capabilities and regulatory position accurately.
  • Never describe STIDE as a lender, fund, bank or guarantor.
  • Never promise financing, credit approval, lender interest, term sheets or closing outcomes.
  • Avoid unauthorised investment advice, securities placement or public and retail solicitation.
  • Follow applicable KYC, AML, sanctions, conflicts-of-interest and counterparty-screening procedures.
  • Protect confidential and commercially sensitive information.
  • Use approved systems and communication channels for client information.
  • Obtain internal approval before distributing sensitive transaction materials.
  • Escalate potential legal, licensing, regulatory, reputational or ethical concerns promptly.
  • Maintain proper records of material discussions, proposals and commercial commitments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, law, engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least three years of meaningful experience in institutional sales, transaction origination, corporate banking, investment banking, private credit, project finance, structured finance, debt advisory or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable experience dealing with corporate owners, chief executives, chief financial officers, treasury professionals or institutional counterparties.
  • A working network within Thailand’s corporate, banking, private-capital or professional-advisory community.
  • Evidence of converting complex commercial discussions into signed mandates, completed transactions or other measurable institutional outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, cash-flow analysis, leverage, collateral, repayment capacity and transaction risk.
  • The ability to distinguish credible financing requirements from speculative or poorly prepared enquiries.
  • Strong proposal, presentation, negotiation and commercial-closing skills.
  • Professional fluency in Thai and English, both written and spoken.
  • The ability to communicate complex financing issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong personal integrity, discretion and professional judgement.
  • Disciplined use of CRM systems, pipeline reporting and sales forecasting.
  • The ability to work independently while remaining accountable to regional management.
  • Willingness to travel within Thailand and, where required, elsewhere in ASEAN.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be advantageous but are not mandatory:

  • A postgraduate degree or professional qualification in finance, accounting, banking, investment, law or business.
  • Experience with private-credit funds, commercial banks, investment banks, family offices, development-finance institutions or non-bank lenders.
  • Experience involving secured lending, project finance, real assets, asset-backed transactions or acquisition finance.
  • Familiarity with cross-border structures involving Singapore and Thailand.
  • Experience working with legal, tax, technical and financial due-diligence advisers.
  • Existing relationships in sectors such as industrial and manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, energy, hospitality, real estate, agriculture or food production.
  • Experience launching or expanding an institutional advisory business in Thailand.

Performance Expectations

Success will be measured by the quality and commercial value of outcomes, not merely the number of calls made or contacts added.

Key performance indicators may include:

  • Number and value of properly qualified opportunities.
  • Conversion of qualified opportunities into signed advisory mandates.
  • Collection of agreed advisory fees.
  • Accuracy and reliability of pipeline forecasts.
  • Average time from qualification to commercial decision.
  • Quality of opportunity documentation and internal handover.
  • Development of productive institutional and professional referral relationships.
  • Rejection or early closure of unsuitable opportunities.
  • Compliance with STIDE’s commercial, reporting and conduct standards.
  • Contribution to repeat engagements and legitimate client referrals.

During the first 12 months, the successful candidate should establish a credible Thailand market presence, create a defensible institutional network, build a qualified mandate pipeline and demonstrate repeatable conversion discipline.

What This Role Is Not

This is not:

  • A retail financial-product sales role.
  • A commission-only introducer position.
  • A telemarketing or mass lead-generation role.
  • A licence to promise financing to prospective clients.
  • A conventional loan-broker role based solely on passing names between parties.
  • A position for someone who relies entirely on personal contacts but cannot evaluate transaction quality.
  • A role where activity levels can substitute for signed mandates, collected fees and sound professional judgement.

Candidate Profile

This role is suited to an institutional sales professional who can combine relationship development with transaction judgement.

The right candidate will be able to open relevant doors, ask difficult questions, challenge unrealistic financing expectations and preserve the credibility of both STIDE and its counterparties. The candidate must be commercially ambitious without becoming careless, and persuasive without misrepresenting what STIDE can deliver.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit:

  • A current curriculum vitae.
  • A short cover note explaining their suitability for the role.
  • A summary of relevant institutional-sales, advisory or mandate-origination experience.
